The 2018 Ladera Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from select vineyard blocks on Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak, Pritchard Hill and Calistoga. Each site offers differences in clones, soil and micro-climates that when blended result in a profoundly rich, complex wine with striking aromas and intense fruit expression.
The Cabernet Sauvignon harvest started on October 10th and was completed on October 23rd, 2018.
The 2018 Ladera Cabernet Sauvignon reflects both the power and complexity of each vineyard site and block. The grapes were carefully sorted by hand, de-stemmed without crushing then sorted a second time using optical image-processing. Once in tank, the grapes were cold soaked for 5 days to extract maximum fruit character. The wine was aged in 82% new premium French oak for 22 months before the final blend was assembled.
The stunning 2018 Ladera Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a deep purple-hued color with striking aromatics and a beautifully balanced palate that will continue to evolve. Fresh aromas of black cherry and plum are intermixed with mocha and cinnamon spice. The flavorful palate reveals an abundance of dark fruits and fine-grained tannins that persist through the finish.
